Getting Older and Looking Younger

I t was our wise president Abraham Lincoln who said, ÒEveryone desires to live long, but no one would like to grow old.Ó Growing old gracefully is for the birds, and I am going to use every new trick, technique and product to defy time and gravity.

I have seen the hair and beauty industry improve dramatically in the thirty (yes, thirty) years I have been in it, and I would like to share a few of my favorite beauty tips for modern girls of any age who want to look young and polished.

1. SHINY, HEALTHY HAIR looks great on every woman and is even more complimentary as we age. Two things will give you shiny hair: the products you use and the way you finish your hair. Curly hair needs moisture rich products. Bumble and bumble has an entire line of curl products that leave curls super shiny and not crunchy or gelled. Straight hair should have movement and body, and there are some fantastic products to give shine without making the hair heavy.

2. FRESH SKIN starts with great skin care. Use products like AHAÕS AND RETINOLS (Tri-complex serum by Acutederm) to improve skin tone and texture and help build collagen. Always use sunscreen. Use a light weight liquid foundation. Mi Amore has a wonderful light reflective foundation that minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Your make up should be light and dewy not a powdery masque.

3. GROOMED BROWS AND LASHES look youthful and feminine. Use brow tint, brow powder and wax to color, fill in thinning or graying brows. Winter-Spring 2010 forecast shows us lush brows and lashes. Never let any one pluck, wax or thread your brows from the top. Make sure you are going to someone who understands fashion when you allow them to touch your eyebrows. Long, lush lashes are always in style, and you can achieve them with a conditioning mascara or lash strips or tabs.

4. SOFT LIPS -Try new Winter-Spring 2010 colors like pinks, peaches, golds and berries. Also try creamy lipsticks or glossy balms. Always avoid too dark liner or frosted lips.

5. A PROFESSIONAL MAKE UP APPLICATION is a great way to get a new perspective of you! Professionals who are trained in new trends and techniques will help you step outside the box!

In the end, the best kept beauty secret is an attitude of gratitude to God!
