Jasmin Sheth and Stephanie Hamborsky, sixteen-year-old students at Hightower High School, have founded a local chapter, DoSomething Sugar Land, of a national volunteering organization to aid in the plight of many women around the world. The focus of the organization is to host beneficial events for the community providing for global causes, such as the mistreatment of women in under-developed nations. The teens have organized an opportunity for the community to lend a helping hand to women in need though their first event, The Walk for Women. The Walk for Women is scheduled for March 6th and will be held in Pecan Park in the New Territory subdivision in Sugar Land from 8 am to noon. All proceeds will be donated to needy girls under the watch of the global organization known as World Vision. Food, vendors, music, and speakers will be part of the event. Sponsorships are currently available from $200 to $500. Limited vendor opportunities are also available. If you are interested in participating in The Walk for Women, contact Stephanie Hamborsky via email at steph.hamborsky@yahoo.com or Jasmin Sheth at jasminseth@yahoo.com.
